Sakinah - Product Development

Design development and production management for Sakinah, a seat conceived as a personal retreat.

The project originated from Threads of Innovation, a workshop organised in collaboration with Lyria, PSU-CAD of Riyadh and Politecnico di Milano. Held at Lyria in Montemurlo (PO), the workshop placed the company’s materials at the centre of the design process. Developed by a team of four students, the concept was selected at the end of the workshop for further development.

Responsible for the subsequent formal and technical development, sourcing manufacturers and overseeing the entire production process, translating the selected concept into a finished piece.

Designed for individual use, Sakinah combines a circular upholstered seat with an enveloping textile canopy. The curtains can be closed to create a private space for a moment of pause, while custom-made fabric featuring a Sadu pattern defines the project’s visual identity.

Exhibited at SaloneSatellite 2026.
